Your new role:

As a Personal Protection Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our staff, patients, visitors, and assets across Metro South Health facilities. You'll provide front-line safety and response services and support our commitment to a safe and respectful healthcare environment.  Key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to safety incidents and providing personal protection in situations involving aggression or violence.
  • Conducting regular patrols, risk assessments and emergency responses, including fire and lockdown procedures.
  • Applying effective de-escalation, negotiation and restraint techniques to support staff and patient safety.
  • Building positive relationships with staff and visitors, ensuring a professional and service-oriented approach at all times.

About you:

You're a calm, confident and capable professional who thrives in dynamic situations and understands the importance of teamwork in maintaining a safe healthcare environment.  You'll bring:

  • Proven experience in safety, security or emergency response—ideally within a healthcare or public service environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to de-escalate and manage difficult situations effectively.
  • A commitment to professionalism, integrity, and service excellence, even under pressure.
  • The physical capability and resilience required for shift work and response duties.

Logan Hospital is the major health centre for one of the fastest growing areas in Queensland. We offer a range of services, including medical, rehabilitation, maternity, surgical and paediatric care.

We offer our staff and students extensive support and training in most medical specialties. As a teaching hospital, we help train future health care professionals and participate in research through strong partnerships with Queensland's leading medical schools, universities, and TAFE Queensland.

Our services will continue to grow as we build bigger and better facilities to support the community. By 2027, we'll have more beds and 5 more birthing suites as part of the Logan Hospital expansion.
