Highly desirable requirements

* A bachelor's degree in data science, information management, computer science, or a related field. An advanced degree is advantageous.
* Certification or formal training in data governance, data analytics, or related fields (e.g. DAMA Certified * Data Management Professional (CDMP), Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
* Strong understanding of the DMBOK framework and its application in organisational contexts.
* Minimum 2 years of professional experience in data analysis, data governance, or data management roles.
* Proficiency in data analysis tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau).
* Familiarity with data governance principles, including compliance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (QLD) and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
* Experience working with data quality assurance processes, metadata management, and data lifecycle management.
* Experience in Agile way of working and appropriate requirement management tools.

Your key accountabilities

Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:

* Perform data analysis activities and ensure adherence to the DMBOK framework and other relevant data governance standards across the department, including to monitor compliance with data privacy and security regulations in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (QLD).
* Conduct regular data quality assessments to identify and resolve inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and gaps in data sets, maintaining metadata repositories, and ensure proper documentation of all departmental data assets.
* Review and interpret complex data sets to develop and deliver insightful reports, dashboards, and visualisations and presentations to support effective decision-making, and provide regular updates on data governance initiativ

You will work closely with projects, stakeholders, and teams, and play a critical role in supporting the department's strategic objectives to ensure the appropriate use of data, data integrity, compliance with governance standards, and the delivery of high-quality insights that drive informed decision-making in line with best practices in data management and governance.
