Temporary part-time positions available, up to 20 hours per fortnight for 6 months

We are looking for exceptional Ophthalmology consultants to join our Ophthalmology department within Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service.

As a Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service employee your salary includes:

Staff Specialist/Senior Staff Specialist

  • Base salary comprising of between
    • $103.79 - $120.56 p.h. L18 – L24 Staff Specialist
    • $124.12 - $131.60 p.h. L25 – L27 Senior Staff Specialist
  • Motor vehicle allowance (pro rata for Part-time)
    • $23,395 p.a. L18 - L24 Staff Specialist
    • $28,408 p.a. L25 – L27 Senior Staff Specialist
  • Attraction and Retention Allowance up to 50% of base salary
  • Overtime and on-call allowances (paid by exception)
  • Professional development allowance $22,145 p.a. (pro rata for Part-time)

Visting Medical Officer

  • Base salary comprising of between
  • $201.04 - $219.93 p.h. VS1 - VS4 Specialist
  • $238.93 VSS1 Senior Specialist
  • VMO Fuel Allowance up to $2,350 p.a.
  • Professional Development Allowance up to $5,000 p.a.
  • Tier 2 payment based on on-call requirements

To be employed by Queensland Health as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO), you must have ongoing private practice costs. This is a mandatory employment requirement.

The Sunshine Coast is known for its beautiful beaches, hinterland scenery and subtropical climate. The Health Service is located across the Sunshine Coast region, with five hospital campuses including Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) serving a population around 500,000 people.

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north. We care for our communities through Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Nambour General Hospital, Gympie Hospital, Maleny Soldier's Memorial Hospital, and Caloundra Health Service which includes a Minor Injury and Illness Clinic. We also provide care at a number of community and mental health sites, as well as Glenbrook Residential Aged Care.

As a Staff Specialist/Visiting Medical Officer (Ophthalmology) you will be responsible for providing high quality Ophthalmology care for our community, with a focus on leading safe care, driving quality improvement and innovation, and collaboratively contributing to department growth and development within a multidisciplinary team. Advanced skills in Glaucoma is desirable.
