About the work unit / facility

The Townsville Public Health Unit (TPHU) protects community health by reducing communicable and vaccine-preventable diseases and environmental health risks. Our multidisciplinary team delivers disease surveillance, outbreak management, immunisation support, sexual health programs, and health promotion across North West Queensland.

Competitive salary and benefits

  • Salary between $5081.10 – $5516.60 per fortnight (Nurse Grade 7).
  • 4 to 6 weeks p.a. recreational leave with 14-17.5% loading.
  • Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%.

About your opportunity

As a Public Health Nurse based in Mt Isa, you will lead immunisation programs, communicable disease control, and sexual health initiatives across North West Queensland. You will provide expert advice, education, and outbreak response, ensuring culturally safe and evidence-based care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing and current AHPRA registration.
  • Authorisation as an Immunisation Program Nurse (IPN).
  • Evidence of vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD).
  • Current Class C driver licence.
  • Ability to travel to remote locations and participate in on-call roster.
  • A probationary period may apply.
