About the role
The Compliance Officer will be expected to assist with conducting routine compliance inspections, undertake evidence gathering during targeted enforcement and where necessary prepare briefs of evidence and appear in court hearings.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Ability to interpret legislation, regulations and other guideline material relating to the operations and functions of the Branch.
- Take appropriate enforcement action against persons found to be contravening public health legislation, including the routine compliance inspections, and serving of statutory notices and fixed penalty notices where appropriate. This will also include gathering evidence, writing reports and attending Court.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Ability to interpret legislation, regulations and other guidance material relating to the operations and functions of the work unit. Working knowledge of smoking product supply issues and legislation will be highly regarded.
- High motivation with demonstrated flexibility in approach to work and the working environment, and willingness to participate in cross program initiatives as required by management.
- Ability to use verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision in a multidisciplinary team to achieve work outcomes.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- The position holder will be required to have or be willing to complete a Certificate IV in Government Investigations.
