What's involved – The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is responsible for managing patient care, human & material resources and education for the staff within the Barcaldine Hospital & Multipurpose Health Service (MPHS) and the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) teams.
The CNC is directly responsible for management of the Aged Care services within Barcaldine with support from the Community CN, CHSP Home Care Co-Ordinator, Administration Officer, Business Manager & DON.
The CNC provides professional leadership and direction to the nursing & CHSP staff, is responsible for implementing plans related to safe & quality patient centered care, staff professional development, financial accountability and demonstrates the following:
- Advanced level of autonomous clinical and professional practice.
- Advanced level of decision making in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Work collectively to apply the principles of clinical governance.
- Apply professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing and midwifery and multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
- Responsible for enacting strategies that supports a work-based culture that promotes and supports education, learning, and workforce development.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant may be required to act in the Director of Nursing position, be on call, and be required to participate in a 24-hour roster for unexpected sick leave.
