• The Physiotherapy Senior Assistant plays an essential role in patient care by performing a range of delegated clinical duties such as assisting with treatment sessions, supporting patient mobility, and preparing therapy equipment. About the role

This role provides clinical support to assist the Physiotherapy team in the provision of high quality, evidence based, multidisciplinary clinical, education and research services at Ipswich Hospital. This position will provide clinical assistance in a number of areas, including the Geriatric and Rehabilitation Services, surgical and medical inpatients, critical care, and ambulatory services. The role will provide environmental maintenance of the specific work areas within the allied health services, West Moreton Health (WMH). 

 About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to apply skills and knowledge such as computer literacy, medical terminology, general medical conditions, and basic anatomy within an allied health context.
  • Ability to provide a defined range of treatments for patients with complex needs, as delegated by a Physiotherapist.
  • Effective communication skills that enable the development of improved service delivery outcomes and effective relationships with staff, patients and other key stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead scheduled clinical assistant team meetings, supervision (Including performance appraisal) and training/ development.
  • Undertake day to day workload management of the clinical assistant workforce to accommodate planned and unplanned leave and changing requirements of the allied health team.
  • Ability to contribute positively to the allied health clinical team by supporting and contributing to service improvement activities.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of a Certificate IV AHA qualification (HLT42507) or equivalent for this role.
