About your role
As a Senior Clinical Coder, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality inpatient morbidity data for Princess Alexandra Hospital.
You will be:
- Accurately assigning ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes and DRG groupings in line with Australian Coding Standards and legislative requirements.
- Extracting, verifying and reviewing clinical information from patient records and liaising with clinicians to clarify documentation.
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies between source documentation and patient information systems.
- Using 3M Codefinder, HBCIS and related databases to support accurate coding and data validation.
- Leading complex or contentious coding discussions and contributing to clinical liaison programs.
About you
You are an experienced clinical coder with strong technical skills across a broad range of specialty areas, ideally within a tertiary or complex casemix environment.
You will bring:
- Advanced knowledge of clinical terminology, anatomy, disease processes, medical and procedural terminology and pharmacology.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clinicians and influence documentation quality.
- Proven ability to deliver accurate, high-quality coding within required timeframes.
- Experience training, mentoring or auditing junior and intermediate coders.
- Introductory and/or Intermediate ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS clinical coding course (or equivalent).
