Your new role:
In this pivotal role, you will lead the coordination, education and quality assurance functions that underpin high-quality clinical coding at QEII Jubilee Hospital. You will ensure coded data is accurate, consistent and timely, and support Activity Based Funding (ABF) integrity across the service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the clinical coding quality program, including audit cycles, education programs and performance monitoring.
- Providing expert advice on ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS coding standards, DRG assignment and their impact on ABF outcomes.
- Leading clinician liaison initiatives to enhance documentation quality and strengthen coder–clinician collaboration.
- Supporting and mentoring the coding team, including education delivery, competency program oversight and guidance on complex coding issues
About you:
You are an experienced and highly skilled clinical coding professional with a passion for quality, education and collaboration. You excel in complex coding environments and enjoy working with both coders and clinicians to drive improvement. You will bring:
- Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS classification, DRG assignment principles and current ABF and coding standards.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct coding quality audits, analyse outcomes and provide clear and actionable feedback.
- Strong communication and liaison skills, enabling you to build effective relationships and lead discussions with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to plan, develop and deliver coding education for both coders and clinicians, along with the ability to mentor and support others.

The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital (QEII) is a medium metropolitan adult facility providing a range of inpatient and outpatient services including a 24-hour Emergency Department. We provide a range of services, including surgery, cardiology, endoscopy, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, geriatric, respiratory and emergency medicine.
We're making our hospital bigger and better to make it easier for our growing community to get the health care they need. We'll have more beds, medical wards and expanded intensive care and emergency services planned to be opened by 2027.
