• Mūrrūmba Targan Djimbulung (MTD) provides wrap-around health and well-being support to First Nations adults who live in West Moreton and experience chronic health issues, such as diabetes and ongoing heart and lung issues. The name Mūrrūmba Targan Djimbulung (pronounced mood/oom/bah tah/gan jimba/lung) means ‘good healing my people’ in language gifted to the health service by the region’s three Traditional Owner groups, the Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul peoples.

About the role

The Mūrrūmba Targan Djimbulung Service program is a First Nations led model of care with specific emphasis on providing enhanced culturally safe, chronic conditions health services. The purpose of this role is to provide high level clinical leadership working within a multidisciplinary environment, delivering evidence-based, clinical Occupational Therapy services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men, women, families and carers participating in the Mūrrūmba Targan Djimbulung Service. This role is the reference point for all Occupational Therapy matters for the service.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • High level of knowledge and skills in Occupational Therapy services within one or more areas of expertise.
  • An understanding of the social determinants and inequalites/barriers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people face in health care.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and to effectively engage with community built on mutual respect.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a team environment to influence a clinical or service outcome.
  • Ability to independently manage clinical caseloads.
  • Ability to monitor and report clinical work practices and outcomes that supports continuous local service improvement initiatives

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The possession of a tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised tertiary institution and registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
