As you set your goals for the year ahead, this role offers the perfect mix of challenge, learning and team-based support. You'll join an ED that sees presentations ranging from minor injury to high-acuity trauma, working closely with a multidisciplinary team who values education, innovation and collaborative care. With strong links to tertiary services, registrar training pathways and Central Queensland Health's “grow your own” model, you'll have continual opportunities to expand your practice and leadership.
You'll be supported from day one with relocation assistance and up to three months provided accommodation, ensuring a smooth and confident transition into the role and the region.

About us:
Rockhampton Hospital is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, offering a comprehensive range of specialist services including Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Paediatrics, Surgery and more. Our ED supports roughly 140 presentations per day and includes resus bays, fast-track, QAS assessment zones and a Short Stay Unit. With strong medical training pathways and a commitment to “growing our own,” we're a service defined by teamwork, learning and excellence in rural–regional care.
About the role:
- Deliver advanced assessment, planning and clinical decision-making in a busy ED.
- Coordinate patient flow and contribute to safe, efficient care delivery.
- Provide clinical leadership across Emergency nursing practice.
- Support junior nurses and students through mentoring, education and supervision.
- Contribute to quality improvement, research and evidence-based practice.
- Maintain high standards of clinical documentation, communication and teamwork.
About you:
- You're an experienced Emergency nurse with AHPRA registration (as a Registered Nurse).
- You bring strong clinical judgement, leadership and critical thinking.
- You thrive in fast-paced environments and value collaborative practice.
- You have excellent communication skills and confidence managing complexity.
- You enjoy supporting others through coaching, education and role modelling.
- You're committed to best practice, ongoing learning and improving patient outcomes.
- A postgraduate qualification in Emergency nursing is desirable but not essential.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $131,900 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $54.44 - $58.30 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
