You will be responsible for the effective delivery of professional Safety, Fire and Emergency Response services to management and staff on the Coronial & Public Health Sciences (CPHS) Campus.
What you'll do
This position is a central role in the efficient management/coordination of fire, emergency & relevant safety activities and risks (personnel and property) with respect to fire safety and legislative compliance and effectively manage activities relating to emergency preparedness and business continuity. Reporting to the Campus Support Services Manager, you will:
- Effectively and efficiently inform and support the CPHS with all fire maintenance matters, including supporting stakeholders in the operational management of identifying strategies for improving Fire and Emergency Responses across the CPHS Campus.
- Develop, implement, review and on specific fire safety policies and procedures to achieve consistency across the CPHS campus for all buildings, departments, units, and staff.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Demonstrated site management and coordination of fire safety functions and services to include facilitation and delivery of staff training as required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide fire safety and emergency response advice, to support strong and sound decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to review specific fire safety policies and procedures, to achieve consistency across the CPHS campus for all buildings, departments, units, staff, and visitors.
- Demonstrated knowledge specific fire safety policies that are consistent and applicable to the Australian Standards, The Public Health Act 2010, The Public Health Regulation 2012, and Queensland Health guidelines and Codes of Practice.
- Demonstrated ability to apply risk management principles to occupational health and safety and fire safety hazards within a healthcare environment, including identification and analysis of risks, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of flexible, client focused solutions and provide an effective safety/injury management service to staff in accordance with legislation, Qld Health policy and strategic direction.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to gain high level knowledge of contemporary health and safety legislative standards, guidelines, and fire safety, including national and state legislation, codes, standards, policies, and trends with particular reference to application to a scientific / laboratory environment, as prescribed by Queensland State Government, Queensland Health, The Queensland Building Fire and Safety Regulation 2008, Queensland Fire and Rescue Service Act and Regulations.
