An opportunity has become available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
About the role
Provide clinical specialist Obstetric and Gynaecological support to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) service, making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of medical education and safe, effective patient centered clinical practice.
This position will be responsible for the continued development and expansion of the outpatient procedural clinics.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the O&G on call roster and will be responsible for overseeing registrars, junior doctors and medical students. They will be expected to take on a portfolio related to unit governance and/or education. Rostering experience would be advantageous as this role will also include overseeing the registrar roster, in conjunction with the senior registrar.
This role will have a dedicated two theatre lists per month for operating exposure by way of our day surgery and on call gynaecology.
Requirements for the role
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B.
- Tuberculosis screening - to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
- MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FRANZCOG or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and registrable as a Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- While not mandatory, experience working in a tertiary Obstetrics and Gynaecology department would be well regarded.
- Ability to perform laparoscopic surgery at a level IV basis or greater would be expected.
- The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours and on-call roster for the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department.
Salary information
- Permanent full time | Permanent part time (negotiable)
- Senior Staff Specialist: Base salary from $259,072 - $274,678 p.a or Base hourly rate from $124.13 - $131.61 p.h
- Staff Specialist: Base salary from $216,643 - $251,642 p.a or Base hourly rate from $103.80 - $120.57 p.h
