About the role

Through completion of relevant education preparation and experiential learning, the NPC will develop an expanded scope of practice that will result in endorsement as a NP. The NPC Palliative Care will function in accordance with relevant legislation and national standards and will work collaboratively with the interprofessional team to ensure the provision of comprehensive, individualised quality patient care to patients within the Palliative Care Unit, Medicine Service Line.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) (2015) – Generic Level Statements (GLS) Nurse Grade 7 and the Queensland Health and Metro North HHS commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice.
  • Demonstrate advanced specialist knowledge, experience and clinical skills and follow evidence-based care to manage, diagnose and treat patients in palliative care.
  • Use specialised planning and assessment skills to develop a comprehensive management plan for implementing and evaluating interventions related to palliative care.
  • Lead a portfolio to improve the care of patients within Palliative Care Unit.
