Role details

The Proserpine Hospital is seeking applications for a Maternity Unit Manager to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity

To provide midwifery leadership in proactively managing and coordinating clinical practice and the provision of human, financial and material resources in accordance with organisational goals, ensuring a cost-effective midwifery service focused on providing exceptional, evidence-based women centred care within the maternity service.

About the Team

The Whitsunday Region is one the fastest-growing areas in the MHHS. The region is serviced by two hospitals (Bowen and Proserpine), two Community Health Centres (Bowen and Cannonvale), and one Multipurpose Health Service (MPHS) at Collinsville. The Whitsunday Region makes up the northern end of the MHHS. The Whitsunday Region has an estimated resident population (ESP) of 35,050 (Whitsunday Region Community Profile, Whitsunday Regional Council, March 2020). The Whitsunday Regional Council predicts the annual growth rate to be 2.3 percent over the next 20 years. There has also been a significant increase in obesity in recent years with its associated effect on health and lifestyle.

Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
