About the work unit / facility
The Health Security Department (HSD) at Townsville University Hospital provides essential security and emergency response services across Townsville HHS facilities, including Kirwan Community Health Campus and Joyce Palmer Health Service. The team manages CCTV, body-worn cameras, electronic access systems, and emergency coordination to ensure safe, high-quality care.

Competitive salary and benefits
- Salary between $4623.70 – $4837.70 per fortnight (OO9).
- 4 to 6 weeks p.a. recreational leave with 14-17.5% loading.
- Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%.

About your opportunity
As Manager, Health Security Department, you will lead a team of approximately 60 staff and oversee critical security operations, including CCTV, access control, and emergency response coordination. This role ensures compliance with legislation, policy, and best practice standards while driving innovation and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- While not mandatory, a relevant qualification in business, commerce or security would be highly regarded.
- Highly regarded: Experience in leading and managing a large and diverse department comprising a 24-hour/7-day a week rostered workforce of more than 60 staff.
- Highly regarded: Proven leadership and management experience in a large, complex organisation.
- Highly regarded: Management of a large Security Control Room and contemporary electronic alarm/cctv network.
- Highly regarded: Expertise in security operations, emergency response, and risk management.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A probationary period may apply.
