About the work unit / facility

The Patient Flow Support Unit (PFSU) is a critical hospital-wide service operating 24/7 to ensure seamless patient movement and optimal resource utilisation. The team coordinates inter-hospital transfers, manages bed demand and capacity, and oversees escalation protocols during peak periods. PFSU also provides after-hours campus management and supports clinical teams to maintain safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.

Competitive salary and benefits

  • Salary between $5973.00 – $6262.40 per fortnight (Nurse Grade 10).
  • 4 to 6 weeks p.a. recreational leave with 14-17.5% loading.
  • Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%.

About your opportunity

As Nursing Director (Patient Flow Services), you will lead strategic and operational initiatives to optimise patient flow across Townsville University Hospital. This role drives collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based practice to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification.
  • Current AHPRA registration and practising certificate.
  • Evidence of vaccination against VPDs as per Queensland Health policy.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex operational priorities.
  • A probationary period may apply.
  • On-call: Appointees will be required to participate in an on-call roster.
