About the work unit / facility

The Townsville Palliative Care Service provides specialist palliative care for patients and their families living with a life‑limiting illness. The service includes an inpatient unit and an outreach team, supported by an interdisciplinary workforce dedicated to meeting the complex needs of palliative care patients and their loved ones. While some patients may continue to receive disease‑modifying treatment, the overall goal of care is palliative rather than curative in intent.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Base salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 p.h. (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • On-call and shift allowances (where applicable)
  • Plus great Salary Sacrificing options and additional benefits

About your opportunity

This role provides specialist palliative care services to support patients with complex or resource‑intensive needs. It also delivers leadership, education, and expert advice to patients, their families, and members of the multidisciplinary team on all matters relating to palliative care, ensuring the delivery of best‑practice, high‑quality patient care.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, including early, late and night shifts.
