About us:
The Capricorn Coast Hospital is based in Yeppoon, a coastal town in Central Queensland, Australia. Yeppoon is renowned for its beaches, tropical climate, and the islands out on the bay. Twenty-five minutes from the city of Rockhampton, Yeppoon is the principal town on the Capricorn Coast, a string of seaside communities stretching more than 150 kilometres from north to south, in which approximately 37,000 people live.
About the role:
The Senior Medical Officer (SMO) (Rural Generalist or Provisional Fellow) provides high quality medical services to the Capricorn Coast Hospital and Health Service. This is your chance to join a welcoming, energetic and experienced team providing great care to the beautiful Capricorn Coast.
The SMO assists the Clinical Director (CD), Director Medical Services (DMS) and Executive Director of Medical Services (EDMS) with the organisation, management and provision of clinical services to the Capricorn Coast Hospital and Health Service.
About you:
- MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Current ALS Certification. Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program with the appropriate bodies.
- While not mandatory, the following would be highly regarded:
- Fellowship of Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), or evidence of acceptance as an ACRMM or RACGP trainee.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Rural General Practice (FARGP) or AST in Emergency or equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Current certificates in ACLS, APLS and EMST.

Salary information:
Total remuneration value of up to $507,245 p.a. (L25) is comprised of:
- A salary rate between $187,569 - $193,436 p.a. (L13-L14)
- A salary rate between $187,569 - $216,463 p.a. (L13-L18)
- A salary rate between $216,643 - $259,072 p.a. (L18-L25)
- A salary rate between $251,642 - $259,072 p.a. (L24-L25)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
