Due to an unexpected vacancy in the Cardiology Advanced Training program at the Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) and Health Service site, the Queensland Cardiology Network will be undertaking a short turn around recruitment process to fill this position. This position will utilise the processes of the Queensland Cardiology Advanced Training Network in both the shortlisting and interview phases, with the process overseen by members of the Statewide Network.

This process is primarily being undertaken to fill a first-year cardiology advanced training position within GCUH.  It is the expectation of the Network that upon successful completion of the first year of Advanced Training, the candidate will continue their remaining years of Advanced Training, either at GCUH or at other Queensland Network sites.

Applicants merit listed in this recruitment process may be eligible for other Cardiology Advanced Training positions or Principal House Officer roles within the training network (Cairns Hospital, Mackay Base Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Townsville University Hospital) if any vacancies were to arise. 

Cardiology Advanced Training in Queensland is entered into via a centralised Statewide recruitment process. Senior Cardiology Clinicians from each of the Queensland tertiary hospitals with advanced training accredited positions, support the selection process.

 You will

  • Be accountable to senior medial officers for the overall clinical care of patients
  • Provide high quality inpatient and outpatient medical services within the cardiology department
  • Provide high quality consultative services to other departments
  • Be responsible for planning of all clinical care in consultation with senior medical staff
  • Assist in the teaching and mentoring for junior medical staff
  • Supervise appropriate selection investigations for patients

 About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • MBBS (or equivalent) recognised by the Australian Medical Council
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)
  • Eligible to undertake advanced training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians

 Salary

  • Temporary full time (up to 12 months)
  • Base salary ranging from $5 155 - $5 946 per fortnight

About Us

Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) is a tertiary Level 3 hospital, co-located with the Griffith University School of Medicine. The Cardiology Unit consists of a 12 bed Critical Care Unit (CCU) and 52 bed monitored cardiac ward. A primary PCI service has been operational since 2006. Robina Hospital a 450-bed general medical hospital with cardiology consultative services and non-invasive cardiac lab and a Rapid Access cardiac clinic is located about 10 km from GCUH.
