The Role
As the Portfolio Finance Officer, you will work closely with the Senior Portfolio Finance Officer and Principal Portfolio Finance Officer, reporting to the Manager, Finance and Cost Estimation.
Your primary responsibility will be to input, maintain, and analyse financial project data within the project management system, identifying trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic decision-making.
You will also develop and maintain robust data collection processes, interpret financial information, and produce dashboards and reports that effectively communicate key findings. Collaboration with stakeholders to understand data needs, ensure data integrity through regular audits, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders is essential to this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately input and validate financial data in the project management system, ensuring completeness, accuracy and reliability.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, patterns and insights that support evidence-based decision-making.
- Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualisations to communicate financial performance and key metrics.
- Collaborate with stakeholders—including project teams and corporate finance —to meet evolving financial and reporting requirements.
- Support the development and implementation of funding, costing, and reporting frameworks across projects and programs.
- Assist in the consolidation of the delivery portfolio budget and forecast, and in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Perform regular data quality checks and audits to ensure integrity, accuracy, and compliance.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial reporting processes, tools, and systems.
Are You Right for This Role?
To be successful in this role, you will bring a solid understanding of accounting standards, relevant legislation, and contemporary financial and budgetary management practices and policies, particularly within a project delivery environment.
You will demonstrate strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting agreed priorities, timeframes, and accountabilities.
Attention to detail is essential to ensure reporting is accurate, consistent with underlying data, and reflective of the true project status. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools—particularly Excel, Word, and Power BI—is essential. Experience in project-based environments, especially within Information Management (IM) or Information and Communication Technology (ICT), is highly regarded.
