The Nursing Director exercises advanced clinical, management, leadership and / or specific portfolio expertise, experience and aptitude to provide highly developed corporate support in order to optimise nursing/midwifery practice and services.
The Nursing Director, Inpatients – Surgery and Critical Care provides strategic and operational leadership across all inpatient and outpatient surgical and critical care services. This role is accountable for ensuring the delivery of safe, high‑quality, patient‑centred care through effective clinical governance, workforce management, and service excellence.
In this position key responsibilities include oversight of human resource management, safety and risk mitigation, quality improvement initiatives, service redesign and enhancement, and the development and implementation of systems, strategy, and long‑term planning to meet organisational priorities. Working in partnership with multidisciplinary teams and executive leaders, the Nursing Director drives innovation, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the inpatient surgical and critical care portfolio.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 11 and the Queensland Public Service values.
- Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
Remuneration value up to $204,927 p.a., comprising salary $179,609 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 11) (Fixed Term Temporary full time, 76 hrs p.f. position available for 12 months).
