About the Team
The Patient Support Services team is comprised of seven essential units that work collaboratively to ensure the smooth operation and safety of the healthcare environment. These units include Cleaning, which maintains hygiene and infection control standards; Linen, responsible for the supply and management of hospital textiles; Waste, which handles the safe and efficient disposal of various waste streams; and Porterage, which supports the movement of patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility. The Help Desk serves as a central communication hub, coordinating service requests and support tasks. CELS (Central Equipment Loan Service) provides and manages the distribution of medical equipment to support clinical care. Lastly, Security ensures the safety and protection of patients, staff, and visitors. Together, these units form a cohesive team dedicated to supporting patient care and hospital operations.
About the Role
- Conduct, assess, coordinate, and evaluate learning and development activities for all Patient Support Services staff to determine their effectiveness and continually improve the delivery of training and its retention by staff.
- Develop relationships and networks to promote and provide training and development services.
- Maintain staff induction and orientation programs, along with resources to support the facilitation of targeted, specific training sessions of various learning modes as required upon direction of Coordinator Patient Support Services.
- Effective communication skills that enable the development of improved service delivery outcomes and effective relationships with staff, patients, and other key stakeholders.
- Maintain thorough records of staff training needs, records and disseminate monthly reports to senior management.
- Acquire and maintain current operational and best-practice educational delivery knowledge. Ensure compliance with policies, standards, systems, and relevant legislation and frameworks that support best practice, contribute to service improvement, and minimise risk.
