Role details

The G2 Ward at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Nurse Unit Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) works collaboratively with the Clinical Nurse Consultant, Nurse Educator and wider health care team, supporting the clinical unit in the provision of safe, quality health care through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice. The position provides leadership and direction to other nursing staff and is responsible for implementing plans related to safe, consumer focused clinical care, professional development of staff and financial accountability.

About the Team

The Medical Ward G2 is a funded 28-bed adult medical unit providing multi-disciplinary assessment, management and care of General Medicine patients. The unit aims to provide high standard of patient focused care through assessment, planning, early intervention and evaluation of acute medical conditions to support our consumers to achieve optimal health outcomes. G2 Medical Ward's Clinical Service Capability Framework is a level 3 facility and offers speciality services in Oncology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Hepatology, Gerontology, Respiratory, Infectious diseases, and Acute General Medicine.

The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
