Your new role:
As the Senior Safety Consultant, you will be the lead specialist for operational health and safety at Princess Alexandra Hospital, partnering closely with leaders to strengthen safety culture and compliance across Metro South Health. You will:
- Act as the primary point of contact for operational H&S matters, providing expert, contemporary advice aligned to strategic and operational priorities
- Lead audits, investigations, risk assessments and safety improvement initiatives across facilities and departments
- Drive safety performance through data analysis, reporting, and proactive identification of emerging risks and trends
- Build strong relationships with executives, managers and frontline teams to embed accountability and best practice in everyday work
About you:
You are a confident and collaborative health and safety professional who thrives in complex, high-risk environments and enjoys influencing positive change. You have:
- Demonstrated expertise in health, safety and wellbeing legislation, standards and contemporary risk management practices
- Proven ability to lead investigations, interpret data and translate complex safety issues into practical, actionable advice
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working with senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to mentor others and contribute to a high-performing safety culture

About Safety and Wellbeing
This position sits within the Metro South Health, Human Resources, Employee Health Safety & Wellbeing team. The team supports Metro South Health in identifying health and safety risks and improving the physical and psychological health, safety and wellbeing of workers and others in line with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011, relevant Codes of Practice and relevant provisions in safety legislation and other legislation and MSH procedures and guidelines.
