About us:

The Peri-Operative Unit is located on the 3rd floor of the Surgical Services Building (A&E wings) and comprises of the Operating Suite, Day Surgery Ward and G.E./Procedure Room. All elective admissions for the hospital are conducted at the Day Surgery Reception Office then transferred to Day Surgery Unit. The operating suite consists of 4 operating rooms each with anaesthetic bays, 1 gastroenterology procedure room, 1 minor procedure room and first stage recovery room.

About the role:

The Clinical Nurse performs at an advanced level of Perioperative Nursing practice and supports the delivery of competent, best practice, quality nursing care. The position plays an important role in guiding and supporting other nursing staff and working in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager and other members of the multidisciplinary team in the management and development of clinical services.

Clinical Nurses share the responsibility of Shift Coordinator and / or Team Leader after hours or when required. Clinical Nurses maintain specialty stores, perform stock take and audit responsibilities as required. The Clinical Nurse is required to apply critical thinking across all the 5 domains as well as the expectation to work collaboratively to coordinate and support practice changes and clinical innovation. 

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practicing certificate.
  • Skills and knowledge to assist in planning, resource management and development of self and others. 
  • Evidence of positive role modelling and adopting a solutions-focused approach to leading the resolution of issues in line with Hospital and Health Service policies / values. 
  • Maintain an increasing level of knowledge and skills relevant to area of practice. 
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to plan, deliver and evaluate high quality clinical services. 
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, policies and procedures relevant to contemporary nursing practice and specific to area of practice. 
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills including negotiation, conciliation and well developed written skills. 

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $135,857 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $56.08 - $60.05 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
