The role:

Reporting to BHF Project Program Manager within the Delivery Services Branch, you'll collaborate with delivery teams, support staff, and subject matter experts to build a modern, cloud-based BI solution. As Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in implementing a centralised data and analytics platform that consolidates near real-time data to serve as a single source of truth. It will feature journey-centric visualisations tailored to user roles, providing deep patient flow insights and predictive analytics to forecast demand and system pressure. The system must be robust, secure, and scalable to meet the needs of a modern health service.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Strong data engineering capability within enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency with Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake) and SQL for pipeline development.
  • Experience building batch and near real-time ingestion pipelines.
  • Data modelling and conformance experience for analytics and reporting.
  • Data quality, validation, and observability practices, including reconciliation.
  • CI/CD experience for data pipelines and release management.
  • Working knowledge of Azure data platform components supporting the ODS.
  • Experience with MS SQL and Oracle in addition to Databricks.
  • Ability to document data processing workflows, transformations, and lineage.
  • Clear stakeholder communication and documentation skills.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience with healthcare operational datasets (PFM, SWMIS, ieMR or similar).
  • Familiarity with ODS or Lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience with secure data access and role-based governance patterns.
  • Exposure to Power BI semantic models and downstream reporting needs.
