Your Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department team at Mackay Base Hospital.
In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing services within a dynamic emergency care environment, demonstrating competence and accountability in accordance with NMBA standards and codes, registration requirements, relevant legislation, and the context of care.
You will contribute to safe, patient-centred care while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Employment Options and Contract Types
We have multiple vacancies available, with flexible employment options to suit a range of applicants, including permanent appointments and 12-month temporary contracts:
- Full-time: 76 hours per fortnight
- Part-time: 64 hours per fortnight
- Part-time: 48 hours per fortnight
About the Team
The Mackay Base Hospital Emergency Department (ED) is a 24-hour service recognised by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) to treat patients in need of immediate medical attention. For people who are suffering from extreme illness or injury, the service offers emergency services for a wide range of conditions throughout the life span.
The ED has designated patient pod spaces, including resuscitation, high dependency, acute, ambulatory, waiting room pods, a Transfer initiative area, isolation rooms and a 12-bed Short Term Treatment area, that are designed to flow patients following their initial triage. A committed, diverse workforce supports distinct modes of treatment inside the ED to address the varying demands of patient presentations
The Mackay Base Hospital Emergency Department (ED) is a Level 4, with both adult and paediatric clients presenting for care and treatment and supported with Allied Health, Hospital in the Home, Medical Imaging, Pharmacy and other community interface services.

You will be a Registered Nurse who:
- Demonstrates clinical competence and professional accountability in emergency or acute care settings
- Practices in accordance with NMBA standards, codes and scope of practice
- Communicates effectively and works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
