Your new role:
As the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) – Urology, you will provide advanced clinical and operational leadership across the Urology Unit and Urology Outpatients Department. Accountable for patient outcomes, workforce performance, and resource management, you will play a key role in delivering safe, contemporary, and person-centred care aligned with organisational priorities and clinical governance frameworks.
You will lead a diverse nursing workforce, partner closely with multidisciplinary teams, and drive continuous improvement through evidence-based practice, education, and research.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing advanced clinical and professional leadership across inpatient and outpatient urology services
- Leading and supporting a workforce of approximately 34 FTE across inpatient and ambulatory settings
- Ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care aligned with NMBA standards and national safety frameworks
- Managing human, material, and financial resources, including cost centre and budget accountability
About you:
You are an experienced nursing leader with advanced urology knowledge and a passion for building high-performing teams and delivering outstanding patient outcomes. You bring a strategic mindset, strong clinical governance capability, and the confidence to lead complex services in a dynamic healthcare environment.
You will bring:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Demonstrated experience at a senior nursing leadership level (NUM or equivalent)
- Advanced clinical expertise in urology nursing practice
- Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams

The 19 bed Urology Unit (Ward 4A) aims to provide a high standard of specialised, efficient, and safe, patient focused care to urological surgery and patient management by utilising a coordinated multidisciplinary approach, thus resulting in optimal patient outcomes and a cost-efficient service. Our accountable and innovative service draws on evidence-based practice, strong communication and learning opportunities to optimise patient outcomes and staff development. The Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for the inpatient ward and the coordination of the Urology Outpatient Department (OPD) which is in proximity of the ward. The OPD occasions of service range between 1500-1800 presentations per month.
