The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Nurse Manager (Mental Health - Acute Care team)

to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Provide efficient and responsive mental health care care utilising advanced level of knowledge, and skills in the area of clinical practice.
  • Develop a dynamic, flexible, resilient and skilled workforce
  • Maintain high level interpersonal and communication skills
  • Gain an understanding and commit to Patient and Family Centered Care (PFCC) principles

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
  • A graduate certificate or greater within a relevant specialty area is highly desirable
  • Driver Licence
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $140 767 - $146 883 per annum

About Us

Mental Health and Specialist Services (MHSS) provide integrated hospital and community specialised mental health assessment and treatment services across the age-spectrum. Our services aim to be consumer focused and recovery oriented.

The Acute Care Treatment Team (ACT) provide 24-hour, 7 day a week specialist mental health care service. This team's role is to be the first point of contact for the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) Mental Health Service to provide education, support, information, advice and referral. ACT is a mobile assertive outreach crisis response team that offers a range of short-term options tailored to meet individual needs in the community which may also include acute care in the immediate post discharge phase of an inpatient admission. ACT is committed to providing a service that is empathic, courteous and able to develop positive relationships with people in crisis, founded on hope and recovery. The ACT continuous roster operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day across variety of settings throughout the GCHHS.

The ACT is comprised of three operational teams:  ACT Robina, ACT GCUH/Intake and ACT Community which this position is an operational manager.
