Your new role:

As a Clinical Nurse in the Operating Theatre, you will provide advanced clinical leadership and specialist perioperative nursing care to patients with complex surgical needs, while supporting high standards of safety, education and professional practice by:

  • Delivering expert Instrument and Circulating nursing care within complex Vascular and Endoluminal Vascular procedures
  • Practising autonomously and providing clinical leadership and decision-making support to the multidisciplinary team
  • Coordinating patient care, resources and staff to ensure optimal service delivery and patient outcomes
  • Supporting education, research, quality improvement and National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
  • Acting in a leadership capacity in the absence of the Nurse Grade 7, including portfolio and supervisory responsibilities

About you:

You are an experienced perioperative nurse who brings advanced clinical knowledge, leadership capability and a commitment to excellence in patient-centred care, with:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the NMBA and a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent)
  • Advanced experience in Operating Theatre Instrument and Circulating practice, ideally within Vascular and Endoluminal Vascular surgery
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving skills in complex surgical environments
  • A commitment to education, reflective practice, quality improvement and evidence-based care aligned with ACORN Standards and AS5369
  • Postgraduate qualifications (or current enrolment) in a relevant specialty considered highly desirable

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.

We are nationally recognised for our expertise in trauma management and organ transplants and are one of Australia's leading academic and research health centres. The PAH as a major medical research precinct hosts Australia's most advanced medical research facility, the Translational Research Institute (TRI) as well as a new Clinical Research Facility for the discoveries made at TRI to be trialed in a safe clinical environment.

We're expanding our hospital to make sure everyone gets the care they need. We're adding more beds, modernising our buildings, and improving our spaces to treat kidney and cancer patients with all new services and facilities planned to open by 2027.
