About us:
The Prison Mental Health Service is responsible for the delivery of mental health services to offenders in the Capricornia Correctional Centre (CCC) and Capricornia Correctional Farm (CCF). There is a fluctuating population of up to 1050 male offenders within CCC and CCF. The Prison Mental Health Service incorporates a multidisciplinary team providing services from the time the Offender enters the system, through transfers to other facilities, through to their release into the community. We work in collaboration with the offender health team to promote the overall health and wellbeing of offenders in general.
About the role:
This position aims to facilitate liaisons between the Central Queensland Prison Mental Health Service (PMHS) and persons with an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island heritage who are also open clients of the PMHS. It also aims to develop and support a network of contacts with the community and mental health services to advance capacity to provide culturally appropriate care for PMHS clients with an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island heritage.
This position liaises with all relevant clinical and non-clinical stakeholders within the correctional environment as well as with non-clinical support workers in the community to coordinate a holistic approach to recovery and wellbeing with a particular focus on the transition phase surrounding release from custody.
About you:
Applicants must hold a Certificate IV or Diploma in one of the following:
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
- Mental Health
- Alcohol and Other Drugs
- Mental Health Peer Work
- Applicants who do not hold the mandatory qualification requirements, but believe they have the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the role as outlined, and will commit to completing the qualification(s) within an agreed timeframe if appointed, are encouraged to apply for this vacancy.

What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $117,787 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $39.00 - $52.06 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
