About us:

The Perioperative Unit is located in block seven in the West Wing of Gladstone Hospital. The Gladstone Hospital has two operating rooms and a procedure room.  Services include elective and emergency surgery, Day Surgery, Pre-Anaesthetic Clinic, and Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD). The Perioperative Unit provides clinical care through the development and maintenance of relevant and proven patient care standards involving ongoing research in clinical applications.

About the role:

  • It is the purpose of this role to demonstrate nursing competence in the provision of nursing care to perioperative patients in the role of anaesthetic nurse, instrument nurse, circulating nurse, scope nurse and recovery nurse.
  • Undertake delegated and delegate activities while assuming individual accountability for actions within the position and context of practice.
  • Practise independently and interdependently.
  • Assume accountability and responsibility for own actions and delegation of care to Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing and Healthcare Workers.
  • Demonstrate evidence of increasing autonomy and exercises greater levels of professional judgement in the clinical environment as the employee moves from a beginning to an experienced practitioner.

About you:

  • Current nursing registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is mandatory for this position.
  • Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of legal and professional responsibilities for contemporary nursing models of care.
  • Demonstrated high standard of written and oral communication skills with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and their families.
  • Proven ability to lead activities required as part of contribution towards the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service Nursing and Midwifery Professional Practice Model (PPM).
  • Proven ability to critically think in relation to planning and responding to a potentially rapidly changing environment regarding safe patient centred care.

What we offer:

Total monthly remuneration value of up to $10,395 p.m. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $42.98 – $55.13 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
