Gladstone Hospital invites applications for the position of Senior Staff Specialist / Staff Specialist to provide essential medical services within the General Medicine team.

This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality care to the Gladstone and Banana regions while supporting a strong focus on work–life balance. You will work collaboratively with the clinical team, participating in a 24/7 on-call roster, providing inpatient and outpatient services, and supporting Exercise Stress Testing and Hospital in the Home programs.

The position also involves providing medical leadership and contributing to multidisciplinary care across Central Queensland Health facilities as required.

About us:

Gladstone Hospital is a Level 3 facility currently operating 70 inpatient beds, with plans to expand capacity in the future. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency care, general medicine and surgery, basic orthopaedics, clinical investigations, obstetrics and maternity services, gynaecology, high dependency and coronary care, palliative care, medical imaging, pathology, and paediatric services.

About the role:

We welcome you to join a dedicated team committed to delivering high-quality care to the Gladstone and Banana regions while supporting an excellent work–life balance. You will work closely with the clinical team, the Director, and Gladstone Hospital to deliver a range of clinical services, including participation in a 24/7 on-call roster, inpatient care, and outpatient clinics.

The role also includes supporting the Clinical Measurement Team with Exercise Stress Testing and providing medical support to the Hospital in the Home (HITH) program for medical patients. You will contribute to shared team goals and align your practice with Central Queensland Health's Destination 2030 strategy.

About you:

  • MBBS or equivalent to be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
    • Registration as a Specialist in General Medicine with the Australian Health Practitioner Authority (AHPRA). In general, this will require Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians General Medicine (FRACP).
    • Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program of appropriate bodies is mandatory.

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $557,878 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary rate between $259,072- $274,678 p.a. (L25-L27)
  • A salary rate between $216,643 - $251,642 p.a. (L18-L24)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
