Your new role:
As a General Services Assistant, you'll play a crucial role in supporting clinical staff and ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients. You will do this by:
- Performing all cleaning duties for your designated area following infection management guidelines and hospital policies.
- Assisting nursing staff with patient care, including patient positioning, turns, and transport.
- Transporting patients safely within the hospital in line with OH&S guidelines.
- Handling, collecting, transporting, and storing all categories of waste and linen correctly.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
- Participating in training, coaching, and workplace orientation for new staff and students.
- Following all service quality standards and occupational health and safety procedures.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have the skills, knowledge, and attributes to support clinical teams effectively. You'll bring:
- Knowledge of hospital cleaning techniques and infection management practices.
- Ability to assist healthcare professionals with basic patient care tasks.
- Strong understanding of waste handling and linen management.
- Excellent communication skills with patients, staff, and the public, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Commitment to Metro South Health's values and objectives to provide safe, accountable, and high-quality care.
- High-level computer skills and a willingness to learn and develop on the job.

Logan Hospital is the major health centre for one of the fastest growing areas in Queensland. We offer a range of services, including medical, rehabilitation, maternity, surgical and paediatric care.
We offer our staff and students extensive support and training in most medical specialties. As a teaching hospital, we help train future health care professionals and participate in research through strong partnerships with Queensland's leading medical schools, universities, and TAFE Queensland.
Our services will continue to grow as we build bigger and better facilities to support the community. By 2027, we'll have more beds and 5 more birthing suites as part of the Logan Hospital expansion.
