An exciting opportunity exists for a Brachytherapy Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist. The Brachytherapy Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist (ROMP) – Advanced provides a high level of scientific and technological expertise for the delivery of safe and accurate Brachytherapy treatments in accordance with Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service and Queensland Health goals.
We are seeking a ACPSEM registered ROMP to support the current and expanding brachytherapy service. This new role will integrate into the Brachytherapy operational structure, reporting to the Brachytherapy Lead ROMP and be capable of an advanced role within a small team of mixed disciplines. The successful candidate will develop both clinical and commissioning skills within the Brachytherapy team due to planned expansion of interstitial prostate and GYN brachytherapy services.
Sunshine Coast Health is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide high level advice, using evidence-based practice, to Radiation Oncologists and Radiation Therapists on the physics of Brachytherapy, including high dose rate (HDR) and interstitial Brachytherapy ensuring optimised patient treatment.
- Operational reasonability for the acquisition, safe storage, installation and acceptance of sealed sources for HDR Brachytherapy treatment units, including support in obtaining all regulatory approvals and ensuring the safe return of depleted sources.
- Be capable of providing treatment planning, delivery and radiation safety support services for all aspects of a complex Brachytherapy service.
- Operational reasonability for Quality Assurance of all Brachytherapy medical devices including the Afterloader, Ultrasound, Imaging Ring and Treatment Planning System, ensuring downtime reporting and compliance with associated Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
Remuneration value up to $172 615 p.a., comprising salary between $144 991 - $151 289 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP5).
