Your new role:

This position provides advanced clinical and technical support to allied health professionals within the Spinal Injuries Unit to enhance patient mobility and rehabilitation outcomes. You will:

  • Perform delegated advanced clinical support tasks including posture and seating setup for manual and powered wheelchairs
  • Adjust, maintain and manage fleets of mobility aids and accessories (backrests, cushions, headrests and components)
  • Coordinate equipment procurement, stock control and inventory systems (including S4HANA)
  • Provide education to patients and staff on safe mobility aid use and adjustment
  • Support and mentor clinical assistants and contribute to quality improvement initiatives

About you:

We are seeking a technically capable and patient-focused Allied Health Assistant who thrives in a collaborative healthcare environment.  You have:

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistant (or equivalent)
  • Strong technical knowledge of mobility aids and proficiency with tools (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to work within scope of practice under allied health supervision
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients and liaise with stakeholders
  • Strong time management skills and commitment to patient safety and service excellence

About the Spinal Injuries Unit, Princess Alexandra Hospital

The Queensland Spinal Injuries Unit is a 40-bed unit servicing all of Queensland. It is situated at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in close proximity to all other acute medical services that are required to successfully manage a person with spinal cord injuries. Rehabilitation services are provided by an experienced multi-disciplinary professional team. It is the only Spinal Injuries Unit in Queensland. It provides a unique service being the only Spinal Injuries Unit in Australia that provides acute care, primary rehabilitation, transitional rehabilitation, outpatient services and outreach services from the one facility.
