About us:
Located in the Aboriginal Community of Woorabinda, 175 km southwest of Rockhampton, the Woorabinda Multi-Purpose Health Service, provides first line, health care for the people of Woorabinda and surrounding rural population.
The service also supports a range of general and selected Specialist Outpatient and Allied Health services, including pharmacy and visiting primary health services. A proposal is in place to extend the existing hospital facility to accommodate 14 Residential Aged Care beds to enable current Residential Aged Care services to operate from the one site.

About the role:
The Registered Nurse (Acute Care Team) is a Registered Nurse practising autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, primarily in the Woorabinda Hospital providing direct nursing care in emergency, general-inpatient and outpatient care and residential care to clients of this predominately Indigenous, rural/remote health care setting.
The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for the coordination of Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing in the delivery of care. The Registered Nurse may be required to perform the role of Shift Coordinator. The position is also responsible for a portfolio with a focus on clinical care, and may include quality, leadership, management, education, and research.
About you:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practising certificate.
- While not mandatory, further qualification or evidence of further learning relating to rural and remote nursing and/or midwifery/x-ray operator would be well regarded.
- Clinical knowledge and skills relevant to rural and remote nursing practice in an Indigenous community.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to the nursing assessment and care of individuals and groups in the rural and remote/Multi-Purpose Health Service setting as described within this role description.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain effective interpersonal communications, and to utilise a range of communication skills and tools with members of the health care team, patients, families, visitors to the facility and staff from other agencies to provide comprehensive nursing care.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $124,741 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $42.98 - $55.13 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
