About us:

The Gladstone and Banana Allied Health Clinical Network consists of six on site Health Practitioner professions: Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, Nutrition and Dietetics, Psychology and Social Work. In addition to the generalist services provided, the Allied Health professions provide two targeted service areas, namely developmental paediatrics and cancer care. Senior Allied Health Clinicians have regular contact with senior staff within the hospital and across Central Queensland Health (CQ Health). Regular communication occurs with the professional seniors and the Allied Health Team Leader - Banana.

About the role:

The Advanced Allied Health Assistant works as a member of the Banana Allied Health Team, providing acute and subacute care to inpatients of the Biloela Hospital and outreach Multipurpose Health Service (MPHS) facilities, as well as outpatient and community patients. Care is supported through the provision of clinical support tasks under the direction and supervision of an Allied Health Professional. In this role you will:

  • Contribute to consumer care by providing advanced clinical support tasks delegated under the direct or indirect supervision of a health professional.
  • Support, mentor and supervise less experienced Allied Health Assistants.
  • Work as a member of a trans-disciplinary team, delivering clinical services to consumers in the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Services area, covering a range of clinical conditions and complexity.

About you:

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent is mandatory for this role.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced knowledge in allied health, such as knowledge of the healthcare system, advanced computer literacy, medical terminology, general medical conditions and basic anatomy.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, including the need to communicate, supervise and liaise effectively, with an understanding of the scope of practice in a complex and demanding work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan and evaluate quality improvement activities under the guidance of an Allied Health Professional.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $92,813 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $38.36 - $41.06 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
