About us:

The High Dependency Unit (HDU) is a four-bed unit on the first floor of Gladstone Hospital and operates with an 80% occupancy. The unit provides acute nursing care to consumers until they are stabilised for stepdown to general wards or prepared for transfer to tertiary facilities. The High Dependency unit is currently a Level 3 Clinical Services Capability Framework, therefore intubated patients can only remain in the facility for up to 24 hours, or while awaiting retrieval.

About the role:

  • The Clinical Nurse provides an early leadership role for the nursing career pathway within Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service and is responsible for a specific patient cohort and will function effectively in more complex situations while providing support and direction to the Registered Nurse. The Clinical Nurse follows quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures to deliver a high-quality, safe practice and workplace.
  • Deliver an advanced standard of patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation by using clinical nursing expertise including for patients with complex care needs.
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision, clinical education and up-skilling to nurses to achieve a skilled capable workforce in line with professional workforce standards.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical skills and problem-solving skills relevant to the care of patients from infant to adult requiring comprehensive high dependency nursing care.

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • A relevant post-graduate qualification in critical care is well regarded. Ventilation competency is advantageous to the position. Where the applicant does not currently hold this qualification, a commitment to completion within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance and development plan.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and implementation of best-practice principles to achieve organisational outcomes.
  • Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $108,685 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $56.08 - $60.05 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
