Your opportunity:

  • The purpose of the role is to provide supportive leadership and coordination to meet the health and wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners whilst in custody at the Maryborough Correctional Centre, including their transition back to the general community upon release.
  • The role will develop, implement, and deliver primary health care including prevention, education, intervention, and promotion activities.
  • In addition, this role will facilitate discharge planning and transition of clients back to the general community, giving them with the best chance of staying well in the community.
  • Whilst working in a multi-disciplinary team, an important aspect of the role will be to provide a cultural lens and strong cultural leadership in the development of programs and processes. The role will work collaboratively with the Clinical Nurse Consultant, to guide the development of culturally responsive and safe care.
  • This role will also provide liaison with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, Elders and key services to develop and strengthen collaborative partnerships and referral pathways with Indigenous Community Controlled Health Services and Non-government organisations.

Under 25s of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

Our offer:

You will receive a competitive remuneration package value up to $117,788 p.a., comprising salary between $77,342 - $103,235 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HWF3) (Permanent Full Time, 76 hours p.f.)
