Your new role:
As the Senior Director - Health Funding Analysis, you will lead Metro South Health's strategic health funding and activity function, reporting directly to the Chief Finance and Sustainability Officer. You will provide executive leadership, expert advice and governance oversight to optimise activity-based funding (ABF) outcomes, strengthen funding integrity, and support financial sustainability. Within this role you will:
- Provide enterprise-wide leadership on ABF, funding reforms, and State and Commonwealth policy, supporting service planning and financial strategy.
- Analyse Weighted Activity Units, case-mix complexity, cost structures, and funding variances to drive performance improvement and support executive decision-making.
- Advise on major projects, service redesign, and hospital expansion, modelling funding impacts and risks under multiple scenarios.
- Assist in negotiations with the Department of Health on funding arrangements, activity targets, and performance issues, advocating for Metro South Health.
- Represent the Health Service in state and national ABF forums, committees, and working groups, contributing to funding policy, classification, and costing standards.
- Lead, develop, and sustain a multidisciplinary team of ABF analysts, Health Information Managers, and clinicians, building capability in funding intelligence and performance management.
About you:
You are a senior financial leader with a strategic mindset and a proven track record in managing complex funding, ABF, and performance frameworks. You excel at translating complex technical and analytical information into actionable insights and have strong experience guiding executive decision-making. Your leadership fosters collaboration, capability building, and accountability. In addition, you have:
- Extensive experience in ABF, health funding strategy, financial governance, and performance management within a large, public sector organisation or multi-facility health service.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing, multidisciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at an executive level.
