 Allied Health Cadet | Temporary Part Time (38 hrs per fortnight) 

📍 Location: Cairns, Cooktown, Thursday Island or Weipa

Cadets undertake a six-week rotation within the calendar year, scheduled to align with university placement requirements and fit around full-time study commitments.

Allied Health / Health Practitioner Cadets are temporary part-time employees who gain hands-on clinical experience while completing full-time tertiary studies toward an entry-level qualification required for health practitioner registration in Queensland.

During a six-week placement scheduled around their studies, cadets undertake clinical support duties and skill development under the delegation and supervision of a qualified allied health professional or health practitioner, contributing to the delivery of effective patient care.

Identified Role – Genuine Occupational Requirement 

Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.

An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is someone who:

  • Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person; and
  • Is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; or
  • Is accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which they live.
