Principal Software Developer

Digital Metro North are seeking two experienced Software Developers who can be instrumental in the design and build of innovative Patient and Clinician facing applications that contribute directly to the enhanced health outcomes for the community. Utilising the latest Microsoft technology stack (.NET 10, C#, Blazor) and deploying to and managing new and existing applications in Azure with a heavy automation focus.
Take a lead role in a small but very successful DevOps/Agile team which will also allow you to expand your expertise into other areas you are keen to add to your skillset such as Data Engineering, Integration and Analytics. We have recently built and delivered a new suite of important applications (Virtual Emergency Department, Mental Health Journeyboard, Metro North Connect) with many more exciting public facing high profile projects in the pipeline.

Digital Metro North (DMN) works collaboratively with clinical leads and end users across Metro North Health to deliver the Digital Metro North Strategy 2018-32. The strategy aims to ultimately deliver an integrated digital hospital and healthcare environment across Metro North by 2032. Over the coming years, significant capital works are being undertaken, including hospital construction and refurbishment and the implementation of the ieMR Advanced solution across all Metro North facilities. Achieving the aims of the strategy requires a dedicated team with the knowledge, determination, and skills to deliver quality results.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Software Engineering this role will provide software development leadership and expert development expertise to the Development team to enable it to effectively deliver innovative and agile IT solutions to Metro North Hospital and Health Service (MNHHS).The successful candidates will provide expert software development guidance and advice, ensuring alignment with best practice Information Communication Technology (ICT) design, development and delivery frameworks
- These roles are permanent full time with the standard hours of operation being 8:00am – 4:06pm, Monday to Friday.
- Flexible working arrangements such as variable working hours, working from home and flex accrual may be supported.
Key knowledge and experience
The ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Experience in the design, publication, implementation, compliance and delivery of technical solutions to industry best practice frameworks for large scale, complex IM/ICT program/project(s), preferably in the health care industry.
- Experience designing systems and providing expert knowledge in relevant design standards, techniques and methods and tools.
- Experience coding, testing and documenting systems and providing expert knowledge in relevant development techniques and methods and tools for complex organisations.
- Demonstrated experience in the assessment, analysis, development, documentation and implementation planning of changes IM/ICT program/project(s).
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of the business of healthcare, service delivery, and the ICT industry, and researching emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated high level analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills with a proven recording the assessment and evaluation of technical requirements within a complex IM/ICT environment.
- Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to negotiate, advise, influence others and work collaboratively with people to make decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary project team.
