Your new role:
As the Speech Pathologist (Acute) – Advanced, you will deliver advanced clinical care and leadership across the adult inpatient speech pathology service. In this role you will contribute by:
- Delivering advanced speech pathology assessment and management for adult acute inpatients across areas such as Emergency, Medical, Surgical and Intensive Care
- Providing clinical leadership, mentoring and supervision to speech pathologists and allied health assistants
- Supporting complex swallowing and communication management, including tracheostomy care and instrumental swallow assessments (FEES and VFSS highly regarded)
- Coordinating clinical service delivery including workload allocation, workforce support and operational activities
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, patient-centred and evidence-based care
About you:
You are an experienced speech pathologist with strong clinical expertise and leadership capability who is passionate about delivering high-quality acute care and supporting team development. You will demonstrate your suitability with:
- Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and eligibility for practising membership with Speech Pathology Australia
- Advanced clinical experience in adult acute speech pathology, particularly dysphagia and complex communication disorders
- Experience or interest in instrumental swallowing assessments such as FEES and VFSS and tracheostomy management (highly regarded)
- Strong leadership, communication and supervision skills within multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Ability to support service improvement, workforce development and evidence-based clinical practice
