Your new role:
As the Clinical Nurse / Midwife Consultant, you will provide expert clinical leadership and consultancy to drive patient safety and quality improvement across Metro South Health. You will:
- Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of patient safety and quality improvement initiatives across the health service.
- Provide expert clinical analysis of incidents and safety events, using systematic methodologies to inform improvements and reduce risk.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and directorate safety units to support best practice clinical governance and quality outcomes.
- Deliver education, advice and leadership to staff to strengthen capability in patient safety, incident management and quality improvement practices.
About you:
We are looking for a motivated and experienced nursing or midwifery leader with a passion for improving patient safety and healthcare quality. You are:
- A Registered Nurse / Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and demonstrated advanced clinical expertise in patient safety and quality improvement.
- Experienced in incident analysis, quality improvement methodologies and the development and evaluation of safety programs.
- A highly developed communicator,with leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Analytical and solution-focused, with the ability to interpret clinical data, develop strategic insights and drive meaningful improvements in patient outcomes.

The MSH Clinical Governance team works collaboratively with executives, senior managers, clinical/non-clinical staff and consumers to ensure that MSH has an effective, co-ordinated, organisation-wide approach to quality improvement, clinical effectiveness, healthcare standards, patient safety, patient experience and consumer liaison services. This ensures MSH's approach to clinical governance remains contemporary, consumer focused and based on the best available evidence.
The Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Team provides leadership and support for patient safety and quality at an organisational level, through incident monitoring, review, advice and training, to support best practice and shared learning. This team will have strong links with Directorate based Safety and Quality Units.
