Your new role:
In this role you will support clinicians and patients in the Mental Health Lounge within the Emergency Department by:
- Managing patient registration, admission, transfer and discharge processes using hospital information systems.
- Providing professional front-of-house support to patients, families, emergency services and the public.
- Conducting patient interviews to confirm personal and financial information and complete Patient Election Forms and statutory documentation.
- Supporting medical and nursing staff with documentation and administrative requirements.
- Coordinating administrative processes for patient transfers, discharges and transport arrangements.
- Prioritising workloads and making sound decisions while working autonomously in a busy clinical environment.
- Contributing to a respectful, culturally safe and patient-focused environment.
- Working across a rotating roster including morning and afternoon shifts, weekends and public holidays.
About you:
The ideal candidate will bring strong administration skills and the ability to communicate effectively within a fast-paced clinical environment with:
- Demonstrated experience in administrative or secretarial roles with strong knowledge of office procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style to different audiences.
- A strong client focus with the ability to build relationships and deliver high-quality service.
- Proven organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
- Sound problem-solving and analytical skills to support effective decision-making.
- Advanced computer skills and experience working with administrative systems.
- A commitment to confidentiality, professionalism and quality processes.
