About us:

We care for people over the age of 18 years who require inpatient care for treatment of mental health issues. The Inpatient Unit is located on the Rockhampton Hospital campus and has 23 beds including 4 High Dependency Unit beds.

With a new build underway for the 32 bed Mental Health Inpatient Unit Facility, this is a great opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse to contribute to the development of the team and workplace.

About the role:

The Clinical Nurse is responsible for delivering quality nursing care at an advanced level to consumers within the Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit. The Clinical Nurse provides direction and support to other Nursing staff while promoting professional standards of practice and conduct. The Clinical Nurse supports the Nurse Unit Manager and Clinical Nurse Consultant with achieving the unit goals and standards.

  • Participate in the development, utilisation and review of clinical pathways and care management protocols within the inter-disciplinary framework.
  • Provide shift coordination and leadership for operations of the MHIU so that a high level of care is delivered.
  • Participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Unit induction, transition and staff development programs and activities.

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • While not mandatory a relevant qualification in the area of Mental Health Nursing or current credentialing as a Mental Health Nurse through the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses is highly desirable.
  • Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Queensland Mental Health Act 2000 or eligibility to apply for would be well regarded
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and/or involvement in Quality Management and research processes within an integrated Mental Health service.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $135,857 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $56.08 - $60.05 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
