About us:
Gladstone Hospital provides a range of services to Gladstone and the Banana region. A new Emergency Department was recently opened which doubled the Department's current capacity. Our Destination 2030: Great Care for Central Queenslanders strategy will see Gladstone Hospital developed as a centre for emergency care, medical inpatient and day surgery excellence. This will optimise outreach services to deliver care closer to home in the Gladstone and Banana rural communities.
About the role:
- Attend to presenting patients, family members, general public, Police and Ambulance by directing to appropriate treatment or assistance.
- Triage - respond to general reception enquiries for the Department by answering all incoming telephone calls and ensuring accurate transfer of messages and information to support patients and staff.
- Acute – support the administrative duties for admission of patients transport with Queensland Ambulance Services.
- Perform a support role to Medical and Nursing staff within the Department by assisting with the preparation and completion of a range of administrative duties.
- Assist with patient transfers and discharges through timely coordination of all required paperwork, transport and updating of hospital information systems.
About you:
- Exercise judgement and initiative to resolve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been established and procedures have not been defined, ensuring a satisfactory outcome is achieved.
- Competent in the use of contemporary word processing, spread sheets, database and other information systems, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail whilst meeting relevant standards.
- Well-developed communication skills to provide an administrative support function to a multidisciplinary team within a hospital environment.
- High level interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and interact professionally and sensitively with all levels of staff, patients and the general public with tact, diplomacy and discretion.
- Ability to respond effectively and immediately in emergency situations by following internal procedures and protocols.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $74,115 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $39.98 - $44.46 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
