About us:

The Maternal and Child Health Service (MACHS) provides multidisciplinary primary community care services for Children and their families who reside in the Rockhampton, Gracemere, and Mount Morgan geographical area. The MACHS provides a child centred, family focused health service, which includes promotion of health and development, early detection, early intervention, and care coordination. This is achieved through enhancing opportunities for families to access support, developing linkages with community groups, building confidence and capability, and enhancing relationships between children and parents/cares.

About the role:

The Clinical Nurse (CN) provides advanced clinical and problem- solving skills, expert planning, and coordination skills in the clinical management of clients with complex needs, ensuring quality standards are met. The role works autonomously with the healthcare team structure and is pivotal in the planning, managing, and delivering of child health nurse care. The CN provides clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education, and research. The role supports in management activities including portfolio responsibilities.

  • Provide expert leadership client's assessments, care planning and practice and role model to and collaborate with the healthcare team.
  • Apply the quality framework by engaging in incident reporting/investigation and conducts quality improvement audits and develops risk minimisation strategy activities to promote and / or rectify unsafe practice.
  • Proactively engage with the nurse leaders and healthcare team to achieve best practice outcomes within the work unit environment.

About you:

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current practicing certificate.
  • Possession or working towards a postgraduate qualification in Child and Family Health and current clinical practice experience in Child and Family Health.
  • While not mandatory, completion of an immunisation course approved by Queensland Health and the ability to complete Central Queensland credentialing application for immunisation and Lactation consultant qualifications are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrate an advance practice knowledge, skills and competencies in contemporary child health nursing practice and theory.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $135,857 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $56.08 - $60.05 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
